What Makes Community Acupuncture Different?

The Community Acupuncture Ethos

The Community Acupuncture movement is a loose network of individually owned clinics, whose mission is to work cooperatively to increase accessibility to and availability of affordable group acupuncture treatments. We envision a world in which every community has access to local, affordable acupuncture to reduce collective and individual suffering and nurture resilience. Everything else we do comes from these core values.

How is Community Acupuncture Practiced differently from Private Acupuncture?

The first difference you’ll see is that, unlike boutique clinics, we don’t offer exclusive, private-room settings.

Instead, the Community Acupuncture model takes place in an open-room group setting, with staggered starting times so that each patient receives a personalized intake and customized healing sessions tailored to your specific needs and implemented with expertise, patience, and care. Then, you have a comfortable, Zen-like rest, but in a big, overstuffed recliner in the shared room(s) to let the needles do their work. Patients are fully clothed and lying face-up, with arms and legs exposed for treatment.

How does the sliding scale work?

Our group setting allows us to offer a sliding payment scale, which will be significantly lower than you’ll pay at a private office. This sliding scale is central to our mission, allowing us to offer access to acupuncture at a much lower financial threshold, and we strive to keep our lower end as inexpensive as we can, while still paying our practitioners a living wage.

Our sliding scale is $30-$60 per session for returning patients.

We will never ask you to verify your income. All we ask is that you pay what you feel you can afford.
